A must stop if you’re driving from between Christchurch and Arthur’s Pass. This was my first New Zealand pie and it definitely impressed. I got a cottage pie, a twist pastry and an apple pie, all three were delicious. They have a great selection of pies, pastries, sweets and drinks. Plenty of seating inside and outside, and cutlery available (was required as pie was stuffed full!). Prices are fair, friendly service, free parking on the street or in the carpark behind. You won’t regret stopping in here!

Sheffield Pies is definitely worth the stop if you’re passing through! There was a small queue when we arrived, but the staff were so efficient that we didn’t have to wait long at all. I grabbed the Beef & Cheese Pie to take away and enjoyed it at the golf course. Even after it had cooled down a little, it was still incredibly tasty with a rich, flavourful filling and flaky pastry. I also couldn’t resist buying one of their cute stickers as a little souvenir. Looking forward to coming back next time to try a freshly baked pie!

Heaps of tasty pies. Shared with the family, Pepper Pie, Mince Pie, Cottage Pie, Steak and Garlic Mushroom Pie and a Sausage Roll. All were excellent so went back and tried a few more including the Chicken Camembert and Apricot, Smoked Brisket and Cheese and a Blueberry Pie. Definitely worth the stop!

We called the shop an hour before closing to ask if it would be okay to arrive about 10 minutes before closing. We wanted to give the staff a heads-up that customers would be coming in close to closing time, as a courtesy. Unfortunately, when we arrived, the staff member at the counter greeted us with a very dismissive attitude. She slammed the tray of leftover pies back onto the rack and proceeded to explain which pies were available in a manner that came across as quite rude and unwelcoming. After we made our selection, she slammed the door, threw the tongs onto the bench, and didn’t even offer a smile or say thank you. The pies themselves were good, but the experience was unfortunately let down by the attitude of the staff member. We completely understand that arriving 10 minutes before closing isn’t ideal, which is exactly why we called ahead to make sure it was okay. We also weren’t expecting anything beyond basic courtesy and good customer service. Hopefully, management can provide some additional customer-service training or ensure that staff understand the importance of making customers feel welcome, even towards the end of the day. The chefs clearly put effort into making good pies, and with a more welcoming customer experience to match, this shop could be even better.

I've gobbled many Sheffield pies over the years, always a treat coming back from the mountains. Great range and incredible pastry, they've got the crispy tops and soft bottoms down to an art here. Today I snaffled a jalapeño cheese and brisket, the bits of brisket were a bit too big in my opinion, made eating it a bit difficult as they were bigger than a mouthful - thus, it failed the Pie-n-drive challenge. But still tasty, needs more jalaps. I've never had a bad pie here, but I've also never had my socks blown off. As always, brilliant service for a busy shop, plenty of flavours and well stocked. Sweet treats also top tier. Kia ora.
