Very good healthfood store - vegetarian, organic, low-profit - with fresh produce, including lots of NZ apples (I’m here in April). Good vegan options. Chilled and frozen items, pastries & breads, hot pot-pies. Large bulk section, with beans, grains, nuts, as well as household products. Many gluten-free items. Garden section attached. Promotes fair trade and ethically sourced products. The attached kitchen produces hummus, muesli, takeaway meals, soup, nut butters and brownies. Piko is a workers co-operative and charitable trust. “We have a strong ethos of keeping our environmental footprint as low as possible.”

Bizarre customer service the last two times I have visited. About a month ago, woman at counter taking quite a while to finish up her conversation with her friend. So I am standing less than a metre away waiting to pay for my item. Today, man working there barely utters anything as I come up to counter to pay. What’s the deal? Customers shouldn’t feel like an inconvenience!

Remarkable collection of loose organic food. Also, the staff is extremely friendly and always ready to help you with your needs. There is also a nice collection of organic flour, you can enjoy trying new healthy food recipes. Highly recommend.
