No Problems. Bookings all went through online. Communication emails provided all the details needed to be picked up from the airport and taken to the car after hours and the same on return.
I rented a Toyota Aqua with Oranage Car Rental through NZ Car Rental last minute. The staff were very professional and helpful. The process was super easy, and everything was online. The Christchurch owner picked me up from my accommodation. He was very welcoming and willing to help me with the rental. The car I drove was terrific and very economical too. Dealing with them made me feel like I borrowed a car from my long-term neighbour, who was super friendly. I was dropped off at the airport when I returned the vehicle. The whole process was smooth. I highly recommend Orange Car Rentals / NZ Car Rentals Christchurch.
Do not use this car company at all, they also run by another name called New Zealand rent a car Christchurch airport. Car wasn’t even ready for pick up and unknown to our knowledge the stereo didn’t work and neither did the car charger. You’re literally renting to people who land in Christchurch to TRAVEL and providing run down cars with no working stereo or car charger. To bad if their was some sort of emergency, wouldn’t have a clue because the radio wouldn’t tell us and phones would be dead. Most unreliable and rude customer service. Absolute rip offs still sending out invoices for a full tank of fuel when it was left full and a fee for parking at Airpark because these useless people were closed when we dropped the car back. Do not recommend!
Afwul!!! Seemed like a reasonable rental rate Car was dirty and max speed was 60 kmh. Dropped off after hours and they charged us an extra $280 because we locked the keys in the car, as we were instructed with an after hours return. What rental company doesn't have a spare key?
A.k.a. New Zealand Rent A Car Staff are nice but unfortunately the car was not and the company doesn't appear to care about it's customers. Lights on the dash came on randomly, the heating struggled to adequately warm the car and the defoggers struggled to clear the windows even on full blast. Worst of all there were a number of tears in the rubber sealing around the boot so any time you hit 60kph it would start emitting a loud squealing noise like a kettle boiling. Pretty nerve-wracking after a few hours. Called to see if they could switch the car but they had no replacements and nothing the staff could do. Ended up being forced to end our trip and return the car 4 days early due to the government mandated lockdown. Enquired about a refund for the unused days but this was met with a hard no. No offer of using the remaining days at a later date either. All in all a pretty sub-par experience. I guess you get what you pay for. Next time I'll stick with a more reputable company and recommend others avoid these guys as well. Shout out to the staff who were friendly and tried their best even though they were unable to do anything due to company policy.
