We hired a Nissan Tiida for 2 weeks travel around the South Island. $700 with no excess was about $1000 less then competitors (although an older model car). It wasn't the Mustang I would have loved for all those twisting mountain roads but overall we could not have been more satisfied with the car and the service from Omega. Excellent value for money and the car was reliable, had great boot space and was nippy enough with no external indication that it was a rental. I would recommend Omega if you are travelling round NZ South Island.
Initially rented for four weeks, I kept the car for more than three months following the successive cancellations of my flights back to France. Successive renewals went very smoothly, and at unbeatable prices !! I will not have enough words to describe this hospitality for which the Kiwis are renowned. When I had a flat tire, while I was getting my luggage down from the trunk two guys stopped, and they changed the wheel, then left so quickly that I didn't have time to thank them. It's amazing !! You have a very very beautiful country, with very welcoming inhabitants, and being confined six weeks to Opononi during levels 4 and 3 was more of a dream than a nightmare !! A lot of people have either had or heard of a horror rental car story when travelling, but Omega put any fears aside & gave what you would hope for. Genuine friendly & honest service✔ Easy after hours drop off at Airport✔ Lady that worked at Christchurch branch is a real asset to the company. A lasting impression left on me was that she kept saying "Don't worry 'bout it". Sounded like a cliche` at the time and it still makes me laugh, but it should be the company motto.
We had a great experience renting a car from Omega for our travels in New Zealand. We didn't hesitate to recommend them when we ran into other travellers considering renting a car, and wouldn't hesitate to rent from them again. We got one of the last cars available, and the price was super reasonable, and with that we anticipated less than stellar service and a beat up car, but that was not that case. The staff were very helpful and friendly and really took the time to chat with us about ourselves and about our trip. It was very nice! And the car, although not brand new, was well maintained and we had a great time.
Great value, very good service. The exterior of the car had the usual small dings and scrapes you expect from a rental but the interior was very clean and tidy. Picked the car up in Christchurch city and dropped off at the airport office (5 mins from airport entrance). No problems at either end. The lady at the city office was very efficient and got us underway very quickly. I would definitely use this company again.
