I am writing to formally express my disappointment with the service I received at your Ilam New World store today, 20 July 2026, at approximately 11:35 AM. During my visit, I used the self-checkout area. Unfortunately, I found the staff member on duty to be completely inattentive and lacking any sense of customer service awareness. When I needed assistance (which is precisely what self-checkout attendants are there for), the staff member showed no initiative, no willingness to help, and made me feel as though my presence was an inconvenience. I have always regarded New World as a supermarket chain that prides itself on quality and service, which is why I was genuinely shocked to encounter such an indifferent attitude from your employee. This experience has left me with a very sour impression, and I left the store feeling frustrated and unvalued as a customer.

This is one of my favourite New World stores in Christchurch. It is always tidy, clean and well organised, and it has a really calm feel to it. The aisles are wide and easy to move around and everything is laid out in a way that actually makes sense. The staff are consistently lovely too. They are friendly, helpful, and never make you feel like you are in the way. It is just a genuinely pleasant place to shop.

All the staffs are lovely, this is by far the best NW branch because of the customer service. they’ll smile at you and talk to you. Standout staff is “Hiro”. He is the real Hero of NW Illam, always goes above and beyond. We need more people like him.

This quiet New World, may be not too big, but it is not the smallest either. Pretty decent size, it also has some nice pasta, tomato sauce and flour. Items like these are important as actual organic. They don't use Canadian wheat which contains herbicide. Tomatoes, also, are not overloaded with vinegar. Meat here is also very good, we always end up here to get some beef or pork. Staff is well prepared and helpful. Recommend

It has everything you need. Coffee shops busy and free coffe with certain spend. Lotto with second chance draw. Great fish selection, bakery, deli and best range of wine and beers for a supermarket. Friendly and helpful staff. Self-service. Events with freebies and tastings. Wide aisles and not stacked high.
