This is my favourite bookshop when I go to Lyttleton! They have an amazing collection of classics and the price points are really nice! Starts from $15 for most of the classics💗 The staff are really friendly and recommend to check out as the atmosphere here is lovely!

I visited the London Street Booshop in February 2026. I greeted the staff member who was reading at the desk (and older woman with a Shakespearean bob-cut, and glasses). She was unresponsive aside from looking up at me with a strained look.
After looking around for a bit, I enquired about a book I had seen a few months prior. I was very polite, asked a simple question, and apologised for interrupting her reading. She acted like I had spat at her. I got a cold one-word response with a side of scowl. I said goodbye; she was, again, unresponsive.
What an unpleasant experience. We will not be returning. An individual who exhibits such staggering rudeness, has no place working in customer-service.

Lady at the checkout is not well suited for a customer service role, said hello and thank you on entry and exit she looked up and gave no response. You’d think if you relied on customers coming into the store you’d have some basic customer service skills.

What a fantastic bookshop! A carefully curated selection of quality books. I was most impressed with the Aotearoa section it was outstanding. An eclectic range of old maps and postcards too. Definitely worth a trip through the tunnel
