⭐️ Review: The Heritage Christchurch – Disappointing Stay
Beautiful building but the experience falls far short of a 4–5 star hotel.
Reception was cold and very transactional. No guidance on parking, hotel layout, lifts or even directions to the room. Staff did the bare minimum with no sense of hospitality.
Wi-Fi was poor, with the guest network “under maintenance.” The alternative options were unclear, and it would help if the hotel used simple passwords when giving them over the phone—much easier for guests to understand.
Room was pleasant but basic. Curtains didn’t block any light, making it hard to sleep with a bright light outside the room on all night. Basic tea and freeze-dried coffee but no milk, which is surprising for a hotel with no café on site. A Nespresso machine and milk would make a big difference.
Pool & Spa were another disappointment. I booked the hotel to use the spa, only to find it out of order, and members of the public were using the “Health Centre,” making it feel more like a shared gym than a private hotel facility.
Overall: I’ve had better stays at budget and even no-star hotels with far better hospitality and amenities. Sadly, I can’t recommend The Heritage Christchurch until significant improvements are made

The location can't be beat - truly in the heart of the lovely and walkable town center. Staff are friendly and the apartments are spacious and provide basic necessities, though they are dated and would greatly benefit from a refresh. Blessedly quiet on the upper floor. The onsite restaurant serves tasty fare with friendly and professional service. The building has a ton of charm and so much potential to be a knockout property with a little love and lots of investment.

Near everything! It is a classic stately hotel. From Zaman's reception until the General Manager Aman checked us out we were impressed. The beds felt like sleeping on a cloud. We had one small complaint and the General Manager personally went to check on the room. We had a 2 story 2 bedroom 2 bath suite with kitchen. 5he hotel gi es you a real sense of stepping back in time to the luxury of the past.
It is right across from the cathedral and the hop on hop off Tram Central station (BTW great breakfast at the coffee shop before you get your Tram tickets.) Make sure you hop off at the Botanical Gardens-They're amazing,

Stayed here 5 nights and generally everything was good, with a few notable exceptions. The rooms are large, with kitchenette and TV area downstairs, and bedroom and bathroom upstairs. The stairs are very narrow, and hard to bring suitcases up and down. The architecture of the building is wonderful. The location is very good. The in-room washer and dryer did not work very well. The washer ran for 2.5 hours, and left the clothes sitting in a pool of water. There is no air conditioning in this hotel. The parking garage next door is close, but getting out requires a very tight turn into a narrow alley.

The rooms were gorgeous. We requested a twin rather than a king bed and the staff were more than obliging when we arrived and realized it was a king! They were there within minutes to correct it. The staff were so helpful. The room was clean and beautiful. We felt like royalty.
The coffee /tea facilities were basic but everything we needed was there.
The location was perfect. Dead centre! Close to literally everywhere. The car parking was safe and well explained. We were told of the sneaky back door to save us carrying stuff around.
The gym, pool and spa/sauna were amazing. Well cared for. We certainly felt well looked after.
Washing machine and dryer in the room, were a very welcome touch.
Breakfast at Distinction was so well organized and a lovely fare! I'd 100% stay there again.
