We stayed in a family room at the Garden Hotel in Christchurch and honestly couldn’t fault it. From the moment we arrived, the staff were warm, welcoming and genuinely helpful, making us feel right at home.
The family room was spacious, clean and very well laid out, with plenty of room for everyone to relax without feeling cramped. The beds were super comfortable, everything was spotless, and the room had all the little extras that make a stay easy and stress-free for families.
The location is fantastic — close to shops, food options and with easy access to everything around Christchurch, yet still quiet and peaceful at night. Parking was easy and convenient, which made coming and going a breeze.
What really stood out was how family-friendly the place is. It’s safe, comfortable and thoughtfully set up for people travelling with kids, which makes such a big difference when you’re away from home.
We had a wonderful stay and would absolutely recommend the Garden Hotel to any families visiting Christchurch. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in town!

I took my son to the buffet for his Birthday per his request.
If I could give more than 5 stars for customer service I would give a 10 they were very Welcoming, helpful and friendly.
The food was absolutely lovely and delicious and the coffee at the end made it complete.

One of the few Buffets in Chch but can be hit and miss. Nice selection of roast meats and veggies. A few pasta dishes and Chinease style dishes. At least half a dozen different dessert items to choose from like pav, jelly, waffles and cakes plus of course a soft serve Ice Cream machine (vanila only). Also has a bar in the reastruant with beers, wines, cocktails and Coca-Cola brand sodas.

Stayed for 2 nights during our trip to NZ.
Great location. Walking distance to Woolies. Good Mediterranean restaurant next door. The Indian restaurant and the restaurant in the hotel were closed for Christmas/boxing day.
Nice kitchenette.
The laundry was a bit costlier than I expected (6$ each per load for washer and dryer) but it was there.
The hotel is very disabled friendly (wide for wheel chairs and handles in bathrooms ). The only issue was no shelf space in the bathroom to keep toiletries.
The housekeeping was not available (due to Boxing Day) but they refilled supplies.
The complementary bottle of milk was nice gesture.

It’s in the northern suburb 20 minutes drive from the airport. Location was not as convenient as in the city you have to get a ride, but the studio has a functional kitchen, which is very convenient for family.
The mall is 10 minutes walking distance with a supermarket. It’s worthwhile if you’re staying for a few days.
