    While writing a review on Google, I noticed that several customers had bad experiences with AVIS. However, my recent car rental through ORBIT was completely satisfactory. I rented a new Mitsubishi SUV, which was well-maintained and clean. The staff at AVIS Christchurch Airport were generally fine, although I had to wait a couple of minutes because the representative was assisting a colleague at the Budget counter. Based on my experience, I would recommend AVIS. I don’t have any information about Budget or whether AVIS owns it

    Very Disappointing Experience – Poor Customer Service-I had a very unpleasant experience with AVIS Car Rental at Christchurch Airport. I was dealing with a staff member named Arthur, who was extremely rude and unprofessional. I was simply trying to clarify the insurance details before finalizing my booking, and instead of assisting me, he became impatient and told me my reservation would be canceled because I was "taking too long." I had reserved vehicle online and had my card details too. To make matters worse, he quoted me nearly double the insurance price compared to what I had originally seen online. This kind of aggressive upselling and lack of basic courtesy is unacceptable—especially from a global brand like AVIS. I expected a much smoother and more respectful customer experience. Unfortunately, this interaction left a very bad impression and I would strongly recommend others consider alternative rental companies when arriving in Christchurch.

    DO NOT use AVIS! I had a technical issue with my rental car and spent over an hour on the phone trying to get assistance. Initially, I was told the key remote battery was likely dead and instructed to walk and buy a new one myself. After manually unlocking the car, I found it was completely dead. By sheer luck, I noticed a 12V Battery Reset button, pressed it, and the car started—all without any help from AVIS. To make matters worse, the Christchurch office finally called me back five hours later, only to say, "We were busy." Luckily, I was in town for business and traveling late in the evening. But what if I had been a tourist with an early flight to catch? This level of service is unacceptable. AVIS, pull up your socks and learn the basics of customer service!

    I had a mixed experience with Budget Car Rental at Christchurch Airport, primarily due to the terrible baby seat provided. I had booked a rear-facing baby seat online well in advance, but upon arrival, the seat was installed front-facing, which was unsuitable for my 10-month-old baby. It took 20 minutes to rectify this error, which was frustrating after a long journey. Unfortunately, I didn’t check the seat thoroughly at pick-up because it was raining heavily, and I had to rush to get my baby into the car. Later, I discovered that the top strap of the seat was extremely tight and couldn’t be adjusted to place my baby comfortably. I had to awkwardly lift him up to the roof of the car just to get him in, which was very frustrating. I returned to the rental office to address the issue, but initially, I was told the seat was "designed like this." After insisting, the staff provided an extension strap as they didn’t have an alternative seat available. While this temporarily solved the issue, it didn’t feel safe, and the overall design of the seat made it very uncomfortable for my baby, who cried every time he was placed in it—something that’s never happened before. I strongly recommend Budget Car Rental review their baby seats and consider replacing them entirely. Comfort and safety should be top priorities when offering such essential equipment.

    Invoice #: 347784404 I recently had a disappointing experience with Budget Car Rental. After returning my rental, I realized I had accidentally left my child's sunglasses and brush in the car—items that held sentimental value. When I reached out to the company, I was hoping they would be responsive in assisting me, but unfortunately, I never received a helpful response. It's frustrating when personal belongings that are meaningful to you go unacknowledged, and the lack of customer care in this situation was really upsetting. I expected more from a well-known company.
