Each time I've shopped here the staff have been very helpful. When trying things on they checked in on me frequently to see if I needed another size/assistance. They give honest opinions (not just trying to sell me something), and if they aren't carrying what I'm looking for, they are happy to make recommendations of where else to find it.

We had a great morning in town and really enjoyed having a look around Ballantynes. Every one was so lovely and the downstairs Cafe was so yummy, definitely check out the donuts! Amazing and the coffee was A grade.

I generally like Ballantynes and have always considered it a reputable department store, so this was a disappointing experience. I placed an Estée Lauder order specifically because of a gift-with-purchase promotion, only to discover afterwards that one of my items didn’t qualify. The exclusion was hidden in extremely small print on a promotional image that couldn’t be enlarged - apparently my shopping skills now need to include excellent eyesight :) When I contacted customer service, I was advised that next time I could call before placing an online order to check whether it qualifies. Surely in 2026 an online promotion shouldn’t require a magnifying glass or a phone call to understand its conditions. A little disappointing for a store with Ballantynes’ reputation.

Overall great selection, and the one staff member (short hair with a mask) willing to help my wife was great. Unfortunately there was two workers (long black hair) standing near the jewellery counter were too busy speaking together in a foreign language to assist waiting customers, as a result the one helpful team member was running around trying to assist multiple different customers at the same time.

Great shop. Just sad they put the memorial to the fire victims on the Lower Ground floor near the toilets & not at all obvious.
