Rented a car for 2 weeks recently. Could use a debit card to pay but was asked for a credit card for retention which name must be same as per renter. Didn't have the problem when renting with Apex in Melbourne last year. Most if not all credit cards allow the name on the card to be different from actual name. Apex may need to look at this issue, should accept if proof of ownership can be provided when name ls are different.
Rented from Apex Christchurch four separate times (forgot to take a picture the fourth time 😂) and have to say I am very pleased with the received service. The vehicles whist are not BRAND new, are very decent and have great tech such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which being tourists makes driving with maps very handy. We recently rented the Mitsubishi Triton to drive to/from Mount Cook and were very pleased with it. For a total 7hr drive (3hrs there 4hrs back), it was very comfortable and very fuel efficient. Also a big kudos to the staff who are amazing and kind! Definitely renting again 😀😀
The car was what we booked was adequate and cost effective and competitive with other airport based rental companies. The customer service experience was well below average with zero regard for customer needs or time restraints. On pick-up a service representative yelled abuse at a non English speaking tourist who hadn't returned their car to the exact required place. On our return there was no convenient key drop and shuttle service. Our car return and shuttle took nearly 50 minutes resulting in missing our flight and costing our party substantially. When we pointed out the urgency to staff, their response was basically tough look and they seemed to take pleasure in delaying us further. All in all a pretty dissatisfactory service. I would strongly recommend avoiding this company for the slightly higher priced but far superior service of the on airport rental companies. I travel regularly for work and and this is by far my worst experience with a car hire company.
We were initially apprehensive as we always booked car rentals directly from the airport, never tried this option where you are taken to an off site from the airport and then given the car. But our experience with Alex has been stellar! I called the apex rentals just to clarify where the pickup will be from and they explained everything really well. Graham was our driver who ferried us from the airport to the Apex car rental site which was around 5-10 mins from airport. Paying and getting was super easy and quick and we were given a less than a year car which was spotless and well conditioned. The entie trip, the car was solid, lot of comfort and strong, steady and sturdy, handled the roads like a dream. The seat back support was great for me, as i have a bad back. Overall a brilliant experience and i would def recommend alex to everyone and would use them without hesitation again!
Car - good, reliable & comfortable Customer service- good, staff were happy to help and assisted us with extending, they also were able to help with issues that arose System - had some issues with internal systems, wrong registration, missing tyre repair kits and registration expiring mid trip. Luckily they were able to resolve these first 2 issues by swapping the vehicle whilst on site. Overall, due to staff knowhow and problem rectification I would rent again with Apex
