The Ace shuttle picked us from the airport within 10 mins of our arrival intimation call. The car pick-up was seamless as well. Got a Subaru Outback (instead of Nissan X-trail) & it was in a very good condition. The car was clean, full tank & was driven around 37,000 kms with pretty good looking Bridgestone tyres. We enjoyed our whole trip as the car was amazing with all the new-gen technology, sensor cameras, monitoring & driver alerts.

Great car rental service company! Their cars are well-maintained. Process to get and return the cars are hassle-free. They do shuttle service to pick you up and drive you to the airport. Cheap rental prices! We rented the secret car which turned out to be Kia Stonic. We opted for the full insurance which made the price go a bit high but was able to drive with confidence especially on a new country. This is a great car rental company.

Car was clean and tidy. The vehicle’s infotainment system (Apple CarPlay) did not work for the duration of the rental, which was frustrating given how useful it is for navigation and hands-free use while driving. This issue was never mentioned by staff when the vehicle was handed over, despite clearly being something they should have been aware of. When I raised the problem upon returning the car, the response from staff was very blasé and dismissive, with little acknowledgment of the inconvenience. It felt like the issue was known but simply not disclosed, and there was no real attempt to address it or apologise.

We had a great experience with Ace rentals. We have tried them in Australia many times but this was first time with ace rentals New Zealand. Their services have really impressed us. Firstly shuttle from airport is so easy and quick to book, and you can book in advance via website. Pick up process is very good and smooth and they had already got our ready with all add ons we requested. On the trip we had got a chip on screen, and we got it checked as well. Then we got a invoice from ac rentals which was less than half of what was quoted by three different repair guys. And ace rentals dealt with it very smoothly with no inconvenience at our end. I’m always gonna use ace car rentals in New Zealand in future. They have my satisfaction

I won't be booking with Ace Rental Cars again, after the first and last experience with them. We booked a car through a third party and added on insurance at that time. In the invoice, it was stated that there would be an additional drop-off fee of NZD180 to pay at the rental counter, which would be merely reserved but not deducted.
This was not the experience that we received. When we arrived, the staff member at Christchurch was aware that we had insurance but refused to release the car unless we paid for insurance through Ace. With long road trips to make and a tight schedule, there was little choice but to carry on. On top of that, she charged the bond and deducted it from the card before we'd even set out. I do not see how this practice was keeping in accordance with the contract or the stated price given to the third party. As such, the charged amount was well in excess of the agreed amount.
Additionally, I have numerous complaints to make about the car and the service. Firstly, the car we hired was dirty inside and outside, having evidently not been washed prior to handover. It was also not serviced and had a 'service due' reminder in the next 700+km. The front right tyre was also a bit flat. On top of that, there was no GPS, which is a bizarre exclusion on a modern car.
Company policies were also inconsistently followed, especially regarding the shuttle service. Some staff members tried to insist that the shuttle be taken immediately once the car was returned, whilst others said it was fine to wait a bit. In the case of the former, communication was even a bit aggressive. Furthermore, company policies were not adequately communicated. Ace charges for every 24 hours that a customer is in possession of the rental car, with a 59 minute grace period, but they do not communicate this at all. It is also not easy to find on the site.
Speaking of the shuttle service, the shuttle could not be booked from the site if there was more than one person and one bag that needed to be booked. It could only be arranged through a call. That wasn't indicated until I attempted to book through the site, which necessitated a change of plans. It is already a poor experience to require a shuttle service to and from the airport, when other companies are able to offer a pick-up counter at the airport, but concealing that there was a limit to the number of people who could book the shuttle service was a new low.
Finally, when we returned the car, the staff at Queenstown (where the car was returned), stated that the bond would be returned as the car was in perfect condition, but this has not happened. The invoice itself is misleading, as the bond is referred to as a 'One Way Rental Fee', rather than a bond.
Unless Ace Rental Cars corrects the discrepancies in their pricing and communicates their policies adequately, I cannot recommend this company as they lack transparency and utilise dishonest practices.
Refund me for the bond and the additional insurance. I never agreed to be charged for them. There is no need to be insured twice and Ace Rental Cars is not following their contract.
