Customer service could be improved. I was charged without receiving clear communication about the planned work or the associated costs beforehand. The service confirmation was quite vague. I would have appreciated better transparency and communication before the work was carried out.

I had a very poor experience with A1 Auto4Services (Fitzgerald Avenue, Christchurch).
I went there for a WoF, and they told me my car had suspension issues and would be fixed the next day. I paid the full amount in advance after they assured me I could collect the car after hours.
When I went to pick it up, no work had been done. Over the next two weeks, I was repeatedly told to wait another week, with no clear communication. I was never given a direct phone number and had to visit the workshop in person every time. Calling the number on the door only connected me to a call centre, which redirected me elsewhere.
Eventually, I was told the car would be ready the next day. When I arrived, the shop was closed, the key was left inside the car, the WoF had been issued, but no suspension work had been done at all. On top of that, one rear wheel cover was broken, which was not damaged before.
The staff made promises they did not keep, provided misleading information, and showed a lack of professionalism. This was extremely frustrating and disappointing. I would not recommend this service centre.

Had my car sitting there untouched for about a month on a job they said would only take the week, horrible communication, the price changed multiple times and when I got my car back they initially wouldn’t give me the WOF sheet or any paperwork to say the work they had done on the car.
I also had to go back as they did a wheel alignment which made my car start making noises when driving.

Stay away from these guys as they will rip you off. My 80+ yr mother paid over 10K for repairs and parts that were never done. Have had this confirmed by another mechanic, and I will go to the police and the dispute court.

I had an excellent experience from start to finish. Brent not only got the work done faster than expected, but he also went above and beyond when the weather turned bad—personally helping me out with transport while my vehicle was in the shop. He really got me out of a tight spot, and I genuinely can’t thank him enough. Highly recommend!
